Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate arrested in Miami after UK files new rape and sex trafficking charges
THE WASHINGTON POST:

Self-described misogynist Andrew Tate and brother Tristan Tate, who built a massive social media empire championing hyper-masculinity, were arrested Saturday in Miami after British authorities filed new sex trafficking and rape charges.
The brothers have long faced several criminal and civil legal proceedings in the United Kingdom, as well as in the United States and in Romania, including allegations of rape, human trafficking and engaging in organised crime. The charges on Saturday bring the number of alleged victims in Britain to seven, according to the Associated Press.
The brothers have long denied the many accusations they face.

Who are Andrew and Tristan Tate?
Andrew Tate, 39, rose to prominence as a champion kickboxer and then, in 2016, as a contestant on the reality TV show “Big Brother UK.” He was removed from the show after a video surfaced in which he appeared to be hitting a woman with a belt, according to the BBC.
Tate later built a social media empire by casting himself as a self-help expert for men, championing hyper-masculinity and surrounding himself with fast cars, attractive women, cigars and other displays of wealth.
As The Post has reported, Tate has said that rape victims “bear some responsibility” for what happens to them and that husbands own their wives. He has falsely claimed that depression “isn’t real.”
He is known for teaching young men how to embrace what he believes is a traditional form of masculinity and promoting the “manosphere.” He has been widely criticised as being “extremely misogynistic.” He has been banned from TikTok, Facebook and Instagram for his views. He had been banned from X but was reinstated after billionaire Elon Musk bought the site. Tate has over 10 million followers on X.
Tristan Tate, 38, is also an influencer and former kickboxing champion. He appeared on the reality TV show “Shipwrecked” in 2011.
The two brothers are strong supporters of President Donald Trump.
What are the Tate brothers charged with in the UK?
According to the UK’s Crown Prosecution Services, the brothers were arrested Saturday after British authorities filed new charges against them, including counts of rape, assault and sex trafficking. British authorities are looking to extradite the two men, who were taken into custody by US marshals.
The CPS said it was bringing 38 new charges related to four additional victims. Both brothers face rape and human trafficking accusations, and Andrew Tate faces charges of profiting from prostitution and offences related to “indecent images of a child and extreme pornography.”
The alleged incidents, the CPS said, occurred between July 2010 and August 2017.
In the UK, the two face prior charges of human trafficking, rape, and bodily harm relating to three other alleged victims. The brothers have denied those charges.
What are they charged with in Romania?
In Romania, the brothers were arrested in 2022, alongside two women, on suspicion of human trafficking and forming an organised-crime group, allegations they have denied. Prosecutors alleged that the brothers trafficked 35 victims, including a 15-year-old. Andrew Tate has claimed that prosecutors have no evidence against him and that there is a political conspiracy to silence him.
Romanian officials let the Tate brothers out of jail in March 2023 and put them under house arrest. That restriction was lifted that August.
In 2025, the two landed in Miami, where they remained under “judicial supervision,” even though a Romanian court ruled that they could be extradited to Britain after legal proceedings in Romania ended.
What accusations do they face in the US?
After the brothers arrived in Florida, the state’s attorney general said that his office had launched an investigation into the two, and Gov. Ron DeSantis said the men were not welcome in the state.
The brothers were greeted warmly by UFC President Dana White at a cage-fighting event last year in Las Vegas.
Andrew Tate was accused in a lawsuit last year of sexually assaulting then-girlfriend Brianna Stern. She accused him of choking her and hitting her head repeatedly while they were having sex in a Beverly Hills hotel room on March 2025, giving her a concussion and bruising on her face, neck and wrists. His attorney has denied the allegations, calling them a “blatant cash grab.”
