Three Virgin Australia crew have been confined to their hotel in Fiji over an alleged incident that unfolded after they landed at Nadi International Airport, 7NEWS understands.

7NEWS is told the crew had been separated in their rooms at Hotel Tanoa until further notice.

The Ministry of Tourism & Civil Aviation said in a statement that reports the crew were “detained” are “incorrect and false”.

A spokesperson for Virgin confirmed the incident.

They did not reveal details but said: “Our focus is on the welfare of the crew”.

A replacement team has been dispatched to fly the original plane home.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade was tightlipped on Wednesday evening.
