Horrifying footage of a monstrous rock wall collapse in a West Java quarry has been captured as teams of rescuers remove bodies and desperately search for any survivors trapped beneath the rubble.

Reports on social media coming out of the the small Indonesian island have the current death toll at as many as 14 following a rock face collapse onto teams of workers in the quarry below.

The moment captured on video shows workesr running for their lived as the massive land slip consumes everything below and spills onto earthmoving trucks and other vehicles.

Search efforts are ongoing to find any signs of people buried beneath the rubble who may still be alive.

The collapse took place on Friday in Cirebon in West Java, with television footage later showing excavators working to move huge rocks and personnel moving bags containing bodies into waiting ambulances.

The national disaster management agency of Indonesia said heavy machinery, including three excavators, were also buried under rocks and rescue operations were continuing on Saturday.

Authorities are unable to provide a definitive death toll or updates on missing workers at this stage.

West Java’s governor, Dedi Mulyadi, said Instagram that the site was dangerous and “does not meet safety standards for workers”.
