Australian tourist deported from Bali and banned for a decade over alleged outdoor sex act

An Australian national has been booted out of Indonesia and banned for a decade after allegedly engaging in an outdoor sex act in Bali.

The man, 27, was arrested at Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport on August 25 when local authorities accused him and another woman of being intimate in a residential driveway in North Kuta.

The man finally left Bali on a Brisbane-bound Batik Air flight on Tuesday night.

Authorities have applied a lengthy deterrence against him too, meaning he will not be allowed back for 10 years.

Ngurah Rai Immigration Office head Muhamad Novyandri said the accused’s deportation was in line with a commitment to maintain order among tourists, and that officials will take firm action over violations in the future.

Police said their claim of an “immoral act” in a residential area was backed by CCTV footage which helped identify a male suspect.

A local woman rounding a corner caught them in the alleged act, and vision shared on social media went viral.

The woman allegedly involved in the dalliance has not been identified by authorities, although she is believed to be a foreign citizen who was drinking with the Australian prior.

Locals held a cleansing ceremony at the site to purify it of bad energy.

Public acts of indecency and sex outside marriage are illegal in Indonesia, and foreigners caught fornicating can face jail time.

“We invite the public to play an active role in reporting alleged immigration violations and criminal acts by foreigners,” immigration directorate general Hendarsam Marantoko said in August.
