Police told Sky News there has been at least 10 fatalities, though the exact number remains uncertain.

“This morning, January 1, 2026, a fire broke out around 1.30 am at Le Constellation lounge bar in Crans Montana in the canton of Valais,” Valais police Gaetan Lathion told local media.

“There are several injuries and several fatalities.”

Police have said there were more than 100 people inside during the incident.

It is not known what caused the explosion, but local reports suggest pyrotechnics.

A no-fly zone is in place over Crans-Montana, an upmarket ski resort located in the heart of the Swiss Alps in the country’s Valais region and is popular with British tourists.

More to come.
