Panicked Delhi residents have fled from homes and office buildings after a magnitude 4.0 earthquake rocked India’s capital.

The quake struck at 5.36am local time on Monday and was felt across the capital region and neighbouring states, according to The Times of India.

Dehli is home to around 33 million people. There are no immediate reports of casualties or major damage.

The epicentre of the earthquake was in New Dehli, a smaller area within Dehli, and struck at a depth of 5km.
