EasyJet bomb threat: Man tackled to floor on London to Glasgow flight after screaming ‘death to America’

A dramatic mid-air incident on a flight from London to Glasgow has seen a disruptive passenger restrained by a fellow traveller after allegedly shouting “death to America” and “death to Trump”.
The incident unfolded on EasyJet flight 609, which had just taken off from Luton Airport early Sunday morning, when chaos erupted in the cabin.
Around 7am, shortly after the plane was airborne, a 41-year-old male passenger exited the bathroom and began screaming loudly, startling those around him.

He then launched into a series of politically charged and religious declarations, including “death to America”, “death to Trump”, and repeated shouts of “Allahu Akbar” — an Arabic phrase meaning “God is great” that has, in recent years, become associated in Western contexts with extremist attacks.
As panic began to spread through the cabin, one passenger lunged at the man and pinned him to the floor.
“Sit down. Don’t move,” another traveller can be heard saying to him in the footage, while others began demanding answers.
“Do you have a bomb?” one person asked, as fellow passengers speculated aloud about whether the man was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Despite the commotion, the flight continued without diversion and landed safely at Glasgow Airport.
The outburst came at a particularly sensitive moment as US President Donald Trump was in Scotland at the time, staying in Turnberry, a town just an hour from Glasgow, where he was playing golf at one of his resorts.
Upon arrival, Police Scotland boarded the aircraft and arrested the man.
Authorities confirmed he remains in custody while investigations continue.
“We are aware of videos circulating online, and these are being assessed by counter terrorism officers,” Police Scotland said on X.
“At this time, we believe the incident was contained and that nobody else was involved.”
EasyJet also issued a statement confirming the incident and praising its staff.
“The safety and well-being of our customers and crew is always easyJet’s highest priority,” a spokesperson said.
“Our crew are trained to assess all situations and act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other customers is not compromised at any time.”
It is not yet known what charges the man will face.
Police have not released his identity, and it remains unclear whether he has legal representation.
