Emirates: Passenger panic onboard flight EK123 as ‘waterfall’ bursts through roof of plane after take-off
Footage has emerged of a nightmare unfolding on board a packed Emirates flight after water began pouring from the ceiling.
Emirates passengers have experienced a soggy journey to Turkey after water leaked through an aircraft’s ceiling and into the cabin.
Flight EK123 was travelling from Dubai to Istanbul on September 17 when water started leaking into the economy cabin shortly after take-off.
Passenger Hsin Ying Chang likened the leak to a ”waterfall” as it dripped onto travellers from an Exit sign, Newsflare reported.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.According to Ms Chang, cabin crew relocated the passengers who were seated in areas affected by the leak without offering an apology or explanation.
“The cabin crew offered no explanation or apology,” Ms Chang claimed.
“The foreign passenger sitting next to me was moved to a seat at the front, while we Taiwanese passengers were placed in row 52 near the galley.
“There was no TV or other equipment, and all I could do was sit facing the wall.”
Video captured from inside the Airbus A380 showed passengers using blankets to shield themselves as they were splashed by water throughout the five-hour flight.
An Emirates spokesperson said in a statement shared to People the airline “can confirm that an accumulation of condensation resulted in water being observed in a part of the cabin shortly after take-off on flight EK123 from Dubai to Istanbul on 17 September 2026.”
According to the spokesperson, cabin crew “relocated affected customers whose seats had become wet” and “responded in accordance with established procedures.”
“No further water was observed during the flight, which continued to Istanbul as scheduled.
“We apologize to the affected customers for the inconvenience caused.”
It is not the first leak to affect the airline. In November last year, condensation caused water to drip on passengers aboard flight EK12 from London Gatwick shortly after landing.
The Nightly has contacted Emirates for comment.
