Hughes fire: Evacuation orders issued as new Los Angeles wildfire explodes to over 5000 acres
A terrifying new wildfire in Los Angeles has rapidly exploded in size, already affecting more than 5000 acres, with residents urged to evacuate.
The Hughes fire broke out in the Castaic area just before 11am on Wednesday in Los Angeles. The fire quickly grew as authorities raced to assess its extent.
Within just three hours, the inferno was burning through more than 5000 acres according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire).

The Castaic area is located at the foot of the mountains in northern Los Angeles county, an area filled with extremely dry bushland.
Fire photographer Bernie Deyo posted a video to X showing the blaze’s enormous smoke plumes billowing into the air.
