Bashed unconscious and his head “split in two” during a frenzied jail attack, double child killer Ian Huntley’s dire condition as he fights for life in hospital has been revealed.
And, the outlook for the man known as the Soham monster is reportedly grim.
Last week, Huntley was bludgeoned up to 15 times with a metal pole that had an improvised spike attached, after being jumped at HMP Frankland in the UK.

The attack came after multiple threats from other inmates and Huntley telling relatives and friends it was “just a matter of time”, adding he “may not survive the next attack”.
His eerie prediction, it seems, may prove accurate.

Huntley is on life support and has been declared blind after the savage attack that left him with severe brain injuries.
It is understood the medical professionals treating him are considering switching off his ventilator after discussing it with his family.
Medics had initially given him just a five per cent chance of surviving. It is understood that at first he showed some signs of recovery but on Tuesday his health took a turn for the worse.
“It is now looking like he will not pull through, barring a miracle,” a source told The Sun.
“Huntley never recovered from the battering and never stood much of a chance of doing so.
“His condition has not really improved since day one despite the best efforts of doctors.
“It looks like it’s only a matter of time. It could be days, it could be weeks.
“It is probably for the best. Few people will shed a tear.”

A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said on Wednesday that Huntley remained in hospital and his “serious condition” has not changed.
A former school caretaker, Huntley is an outcast at HMP Frankland where he was serving a 40-year minimum term for the murder of 10-year-olds Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in Soham in 2002.

Triple murderer Anthony Russell, 43, is suspected of being behind the attack on Huntley after a verbal argument between the pair turned violent, with Russell allegedly battering Huntley with the spiked pole.
After the attack, inmates reportedly cheered and whistled as Russell was led away in handcuffs and taken to a segregation unit.
Russell was jailed for the murders of Julie Williams, 58, her son David, 32, and Nicole McGregor, 31, who was five months pregnant, in 2020. He was sentenced to a “whole-life” order, meaning he will never be released.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.
