Meghan Gilmore, a spokesperson for the New York Jets, said in a statement Sunday, “We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time.”
No arrests have been made in the shooting, police said. The episode stemmed from a dispute involving a small group of people.
The address where the shooting happened is listed as Sei Less, an Asian fusion restaurant near Madison Square Garden that is popular with athletes and musicians, including Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics and rapper Fabolous, according to a 2024 New York Times dining story about celebrities.
The restaurant, which has also been visited by Mayor Eric Adams, did not immediately respond to inquiries on Sunday.
The mayor said on social media Sunday that he was praying for Boyd and his loved ones.

“Although we’ve gotten shootings to historic lows in our city, we must continue to work to end gun violence,” he wrote. “Too many young lives have been tragically altered and cut short by this epidemic.”
Crime in New York City has been dropping steadily from the levels recorded during the pandemic, according to Police Department data.

Boyd is in his first year as a defensive back with the Jets after signing with the team in March. He previously played with the Houston Texans for two years and appeared in all 17 games for that team last season, according to the Jets.
He also played for the Arizona Cardinals for one season. Boyd was originally drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the seventh round out of Texas in 2019, according to his profile on the Jets website.
The Jets placed him on injured reserve after he sustained a shoulder injury during the team’s practice on August 2. The team’s last game was on Thursday, when it lost to the New England Patriots 27-14 at Gillette Stadium outside Boston.
