A married prison officer who was filmed having sex with an inmate was yesterday jailed for 15 months.

Linda De Sousa Abreu, 31, had previously admitted misconduct and abusing the public’s trust after an X-rated clip in a jail cell went viral on social media.

The footage showed a prison officer in uniform having sex with inmate Linton Weirich, 36, as her discarded radio crackled with messages from colleagues at Wandsworth Prison.

De Sousa Abreu, born in Venezuela, has a daughter with her husband.

She appeared in the dock at Isleworth Crown Court for sentencing wearing a grey pin-striped blazer over a white shirt and spoke only to confirm her name.

Judge Martin Edmunds KC said De Sousa Abreu compromised her role as a prison officer, undermined discipline and put officers at increased risk.

Yesterday she admitted having sex with the same prisoner at the jail in south-west London on another occasion.

She was also caught on her own body camera performing a sex act on him on June 25 last year, the same day the original sex tape was filmed.

De Sousa Abreu, who claimed she has “found faith in God” since the incident, has an OnlyFans account where she shares explicit content.

Weirich was in jail after being sentenced to four-and-a-half years last June for burglary after he stole £65,000 worth of valuables from a safe in a flat in Kensington, west London.

Eloise Marshall KC, prosecuting, said De Sousa Abreu had asked for two matters to be “taken into consideration” by the judge when he passed sentence.

“The first one is one previous occasion of sexual intercourse with the same prisoner,” she added.

The second was on June 25 last year and also relates to Weirich, the court was told.

Ms Marshall said it “relates to oral sex” and was “partially recorded on her own prison issued body-worn camera”.

De Sousa Abreu, a Portuguese passport holder, has one previous conviction from 2014 which had “no relevance” to this case, the court heard.

In a statement written after her arrest, she claimed to have been “terrified for her safety” prior to the offences.

Ms Marshall said this account was “false” and De Sousa Abreu had “never made any complaints to the prison”.

Wandsworth governor Andrew Davy said in a statement read in court: “It has taken many years for female staff to be respected and treated professionally in a male-dominated environment.

“The action of this defendant has undone years of positive and rewarding prisoner interactions in less than a day.”

Rajiv Menon KC, defending, said De Sousa Abreu has “taken full responsibility for her actions”.

He added a psychiatric report stated she has a “personality disorder” and ADHD which makes her a “highly impulsive and reckless person who tends to act without considering the consequences”.

De Sousa Abreu, of Fulham, south-west London, had admitted a charge of misconduct in public office last July.

It is a common law offence with a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
