UK Police are continuing a manhunt for several gunmen after a shooting in London’s north left two men injured and sparked the lockdown of a nearby rap performance.

Metro reports that a 33-year-old man and a 27-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds during the incident at Angel Central shopping mall in Islington, next to popular concert venue O2 Academy.

Police described the injuries to the first man as “life-changing”.

The O2 was hosting a performance by London rapper Catch when the shooting happened at 10.25pm Tuesday night, sparking a lockdown of the venue, according to local media This Is London.

“We assumed the band had stopped because they thought they had run out of time, as they stopped in the middle of a song,” said witness Bradley Miskin.

“They then came back onstage a moment later and announced that we had been locked down, so they decided to play another song while we waited to find out what was happening.

“We were then told by venue staff that there had been an altercation between people outside and that they were temporarily keeping us inside so that we did not walk out into it.”

Local police confirmed that the shopping centre remained partially closed as investigations continued.

Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart told Metro: “This was an incredibly reckless incident in a busy area close to a major venue and no doubt caused significant fear among members of the public.

“Violence has no place in our communities, and we are pursuing every available line of enquiry to identify those involved.”
