A magnitude 6.8 earthquake has rocked the Philippines.

The quake was recorded offshore at 11.23pm UTC time near Mindanao, the second-largest island in the Philippines.

Philippine seismology agency PHIVOLCS said it was not expecting damage as a result of the offshore quake, but warned of aftershocks.

The US National Tsunami Warning Centre says there is currently no tsunami threat.
