The family of actor and comedian Martin Short has confirmed the death of his eldest daughter, Katherine Hartley Short, aged 42.

Katherine Hartley Short, the eldest daughter of actor and comedian Martin Short, has died aged 42.
US outlet TMZ reported that her death was the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

“It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short. The Short family is devastated by this loss and asks for privacy at this time.”
“Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.”
Katherine graduated from New York University in 2006 before establishing herself professionally as a licensed clinical social worker in Los Angeles.
She was born to Martin Short and his late wife, actress Nancy Dolman, who died in 2010 following a battle with ovarian cancer.
The tragedy comes during an already difficult period for Short, who is continuing to grieve the loss of his close friend and longtime collaborator, Katherine O’Hara.
