A tearful mugshot of the mother accused of murdering her husband and young son at a holiday resort has been released as police continued to rifled through the trio’s family home in hopes of unearthing the 27-year-old’s motive.

Metallica Rose Harrison was charged after police found her spouse Charles Harrison and three-year-old son Tristan stabbed to death in their room in Pennsylvania’s Great Wolf Lodge.

Law enforcement arrived at the grisly scene on Monday following a bizarre phone call to 911 in which Harrison allegedly asked dispatchers for help to take her own life after admitting to killing her husband and son.

In a statement, Pocono Township Police Department confirmed that Harrison had been charged with two counts of Criminal Homicide on Tuesday.

The family’s home in Towanda, located two hours north of the holiday park, was searched by authorities on Wednesday, according to The New York Post.

A search warrant application seen by ABC News revealed that police hope that expanding their investigation to the Towanda property “may reveal valuable evidence relating to the motive for this incident as well as recover evidence connecting the knife used at the crime scene to other items”.

The application also reasoned that “it is common for individuals in these scenarios to document their homicidal and suicidal ideation’s via hand writings or electronics prior to, during and after the act has taken place”.

Meanwhile the Post cited a court filing revealing that police had taken more than 12 knives from the property as well as a journal, a financial notebook, a laptop and other items, according to a court filing.

The items will likely join the up to 90 pieces of evidence seized from Room 2030 in the Pennsylvania water park resort, including a large butcher knife, a smaller knife and containers that appeared to have blood inside them as well as bottles of medication. Great Wolf Lodge confirmed that both blades were not from the resort.

The Pocono police statement stated that Harrison was arraigned by a district judge on October 13 and bail was denied.

“Harrison was placed into the Monroe County Correctional Facility to await a preliminary hearing at a later date,” the statement read.

Both the search and the court appearance came amid allegations Harrison told a 911 operator during the bizarre emergency call on Monday that “my husband and son are already gone in the bed in the living room” of their accommodation at Great Wolf Lodge. “They’re already gone, I’m sorry.”

“It wasn’t supposed to end like this. I was supposed to have my happy family. That’s what I envisioned since I was a child,” she allegedly told the operator, according to The Post.

The affidavit claimed that Harrison told police who arrived at the scene that she was “suicidal, not stupid”.

It also stated that she told ambulance officers that she was “not supposed to be here” and asked how deep her wrist vein was so she would “know for next time” as she was transported to hospital.

The reports were backed by the Pocono police statement which alleged that a woman identified as Metallica Rose Harrison of Towanda, Pennsylvania, advised the 911 dispatcher that she needed help committing suicide and that officers responding to the scene found her “with wounds to her person”.

Those wounds included slashed wrists and a cut to her neck.

The Post revealed that the family booked into Great Wolf Lodge on September 21 and extended their stay two weeks later. It also alleged that the accused killer paid for the trip by siphoning funds from her husband’s workplace superannuation account.
