Massive strike in Syria registers on Richter scale as Israel targets military sites in coastal Tartus region
A massive Israeli strike that registered on the Richter scale has targeted military sites in Syria’s coastal Tartus region, with a local monitor calling them “the heaviest strikes” in the area in more than a decade.
“Israeli warplanes launched strikes” targeting a series of sites including air defence units and “surface-to-surface missile depots”, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, in what it said were “the heaviest strikes in Syria’s coastal region since the start of strikes in 2012”.
Video of the explosion has gone viral on social media and shows a huge cloud billowing from the ground before the shockwaves hit the person filming.

It said Israeli fighter jets “targeted the missile launchers in the 107th Barracks in Hama area and weapon depots in Tartous countryside”.
“Earlier today, an Israeli fighter jet carried out an airstrike on radars in Deir Ezzor Military Airport,” it said.
“Moreover, an anonymous explosion took place at the only bridge on Euphrates River that connects between the city and Hatla Village, which is one of the seven villages in SDF-held areas.”
The strike comes just days after the Israeli Defence Force seized on the toppling of Syrian dictator Bashar al–Assad to wipe out the country’s naval fleet.
More to come.
