Nancy Guthrie kidnapping: ‘Biological evidence’ found in home of Today anchor Savannah Guthrie’s mother
DNA discovered during a ‘fine-tooth comb’ forensic search of Nancy Guthrie’s home could be the breakthrough police and her distressed family have been waiting for.
“Biological evidence” found at the home of kidnap victim Nancy Guthrie could blow the investigation into her disappearance wide open.
The DNA discovered during a “fine-tooth comb” forensic search of her home could be the breakthrough police and her distressed family have been waiting for, nearly three weeks after she disappeared.
“We believe that we may have some DNA there that may be our suspect,” Pima County Sherriff Chris Nanos told Today on Wednesday local time.

Nancy Guthrie, 84, the mother of the Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie, was last seen at her home near Tucson on January 31.
The Pima County Sherriff’s office said the DNA found at the home was being analysed and further testing was required, in a post on X.
It comes after DNA evidence from two gloves found about 3.2kms from Nancy Guthrie’s home in the Catalina Hills area of Tucson was submitted to CODIS, the Combined DNA Index System, but produced no matches.
Authorities have previously released doorbell camera footage taken in the early hours of February 1, around the same time the camera was removed, showing a person at her front door wearing a ski mask, gloves and a backpack.

With no suspects or clear leads and unverified reports of ransom notes, the mystery disappearance continues to dominate headlines.
Sherriff Chris Nanos issued a statement earlier this week to shut down “cruel” speculation, declaring the Guthrie family, including all siblings and spouses, had been cleared as suspects in the case.
“The family has been nothing but cooperative and gracious and are victims in this case,” he said.
Sherriff Nanos told the BBC that he believes the grandmother is being held locally.
The FBI has offered a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to the location of Nancy Guthrie and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.
The suspect has been described as a male, approximately 5’9” - 5’10” tall of average build.
