A fire has torn through Chez Gado Gado restaurant in Seminyak, Bali, after balloons exploded during a birthday celebration, causing the thatched roof to ignite and forcing tourists and locals to evacuate.

A UK mum has been fatally stabbed at a Portuguese luxury hotel with local media reporting that her child witnessed the fatal attack.

Another British national has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the incident at the Alfagar Alto Da Colina hotel, a four-star resort in Albufeira, on the European nation’s south coast.

Metro UK cited local media that the victim was staying at the luxury accommodation with her partner and child, amid reports that her child was witness to the brutal attack on Tuesday night, local time.

Paramedics, who were called out to the hotel at 6.45pm, found the woman dead at the scene, according to Metro UK.

Local police confirmed that a UK man, also aged 34, was in custody after being arrested on suspicion of murder.

There were no further details on the identity of the victim or her attacker.

Portuguese media reported that police wearing protective white suits were pictured taking photos inside the hotel. It was also reported that firefighters formed part of the emergency response to Tuesday night’s attack.
