A wholesome twerking video shared by Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, to mark Princess Lilibet’s fourth birthday earlier this month has since made her life a “nightmare”, after a barrage of online attacks.

A friend of Meghan’s has now stepped in to defend her, having had enough of the “vicious campaign against Meghan”, and is calling for it to end.

In an opinion piece for Newsweek, Christopher Bouzy, an American tech entrepreneur, hit back at the conspiracy theorist trolls who claim the video shows Meghan was never pregnant.

“When Meghan Markle posted a lighthearted video of herself dancing in a hospital room while nine months pregnant, she probably thought she was sharing a relatable moment that other mothers would appreciate,” Mr Bouzy wrote.

“Instead, within hours, online trolls and conspiracy theorists weaponised it as ‘proof’ she was never pregnant at all.”

He went on to say, “this nightmare is what Meghan’s life has become”, adding, “every joyful moment gets twisted into ammunition by people who’ve made destroying her their full-time job”.

Mr Bouzy said it wasn’t even “normal criticism” but described it as “psychological torture designed to break someone’s spirit”.

“Imagine being nine months pregnant, your body aching, preparing to bring life into the world, and thousands of strangers are dissecting your every photo to ‘prove’ your baby isn’t real,” he wrote.

“Within hours, it became Exhibit A in the conspiracy theorists’ case against her. They zoomed in on her moving belly, claiming it proves she wore a prosthetic. They analysed her IV line, suddenly becoming medical experts. They took a moment of joy and transformed it into a weapon.

“Meghan is a real person with real feelings who carried and delivered two real children. She’s a mother who can’t share her joy without it being weaponised against her. The moonbump conspiracy isn’t just false. It’s an act of sustained cruelty against someone who dared to join the royal family while being Black, American, and unwilling to suffer in silence.”

Meghan posted the now viral clip of herself performing Starrkeisha’s ‘Baby Momma’ dance with her husband Prince Harry earlier this month with a simple caption about the family moment.

“Four years ago today, this also happened. Both of our children were a week past their due dates… so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn’t work — there was only one thing left to do!” she wrote on Instagram on June 5, alongside the video of her and Harry showing off their moves in the hospital suite.

She recently opened up about the video while speaking with British businesswoman and Dragons’ Den star Emma Grede on her new Aspire Podcast, saying she wanted to show more of her “authentic self”.

“That wasn’t yesterday, that was four years ago,” Meghan tells Grede, noting there was more to her life than people knew.

“It’s also a really great reminder that with all the noise or whatever people do, there’s still a whole life — a real, authentic, fun life — that’s happening behind the scenes.

Despite the trolls, Meghan is still sharing more snippets of her life with her 3.9 million Instagram followers: “I’m just grateful that now, being back on social as well, I have a place where I can share it on my own terms,” she told Grede.
