Charles and Camilla were photographed talking a walk on the lawns of Admiralty House on Saturday morning.

They sported smart casual attire as they enjoyed the sunshine before clouds set in.

They are expected to use Saturday to recover from their long journey from Britain.

The monarchs arrived in soggy conditions at Sydney Airport on Friday night, minutes after a drenching downpour ceased.

The 75-year-old sovereign and his wife were greeted by a crowd of esteemed Australians, including Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his fiancee Jodie Haydon.

Twelve-year-old cancer survivor Ky got his wish to meet the royals as part of the welcoming party through the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Ky offered a posy of waratahs to Queen Camilla and discussed the arrangement with Her Majesty before the royal couple stepped into a waiting vehicle.

The royal couple arrived to a four-minute looping photo montage of their prior Australian trips on the sails of the Sydney Opera House.

The spectacle was meant to kick off 30 minutes before the monarch arrived, but the delayed departure of a cruise ship, coincidentally named Queen Elizabeth, held up the display until minutes before the royals sped through the city.

King Charles and Queen Camilla’s message for Australia

The Opera House display prompted King Charles to share a message of thanks on the royal family Instagram account.

“Thank you for the special welcome, Australia,” the message said.

The royal family also shared a beaming photo with Albanese and Haydon.

“It was a pleasure to meet Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Ms Haydon, upon arrival in Sydney,” the accompanying message said.

Members of the public will have multiple chances to glimpse Australia’s new monarch at iconic sites including the Australian War Memorial, federal parliament and the Sydney Opera House on Monday and Tuesday.

The King’s Flag for Australia is also expected to be flown on buildings, planes, cars and ships during the visit.

In Sydney, the King and Queen will attend a community barbecue in Parramatta, where Minns will host a “regional showcase” supported by the NSW Agricultural Society.

The pair will also meet 2024 Australians of the Year Georgina Long and Richard Scolyer, hailed for their pivotal research on melanoma skin cancer, as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representatives.

While in Sydney, the Queen will also visit a library to meet children taking part in the Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition.

Their Majesties will then travel to Canberra on Monday, where they will visit the Australian War Memorial to lay a wreath and meet members of the public at midday before moving to Parliament House to be formally welcomed by Albanese.

They will then attend a reception for political and community leaders including Opposition Leader Peter Dutton, and Australians who have excelled in the fields of health, arts, culture and sport.

Fans will be able to see the pair about midday at the For Our Country memorial, which commemorates the military service of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

Charles and Camilla will then return to Sydney, where the public will be able to see them at the Opera House on Tuesday about 4.30pm, before they depart for Samoa on Wednesday to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

King Charles has visited 15 times in an official capacity. He also spent two terms at a remote boarding campus of Geelong Grammar as a teenager.
