Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, appears on Masterchef Australia as guest judge, Prince Harry calls in
The Duchess of Sussex appeared as a guest host on the episode, which was recorded in April.
During her guest-hosting appearance on MasterChef Australia, Meghan Markle left contestants and hosts shocked.
Ms Markle appeared as a guest judge on the 18th season of the cooking show, with the episode aired on Channel 10 on Sunday.
Contestants were tasked with transforming a staple ingredient into a dish “fit for a duchess”.

“Hi my love,” she replied, with a big smile.
MasterChef judge Poh Ling Yeow covered her hand with her mouth when she noticed Ms Markle’s husband.
Prince Harry appeared on the screen, wearing a suit at what looked to be a plane suspended from the ceiling in the background.
“G’day,” he said.
“My husband’s here,” Ms Markle told the captivated contestants, who started waving to the royal on the other end of the phone with their mouths agape.
She then introduced Prince Harry to the judges and contestants.
“What’s going on? Have I interrupted something?” he joked.
She explained that the four chefs she was tasked with judging were “amazing” and “so talented”.
“We wish you were here right now,” she told her husband, before explaining that he was in Canberra.
When Prince Harry commented on the chandelier hanging behind Ms Markle, Ling Yeow chimed in to say they “fancied the joint up” for his “beautiful wife”.
Ms Markle explained that the “dishes were fantastic” that she was judging, adding that the one she was eating — which included sambal — was “so good” but “it might be too much” for Prince Harry, because it was “spicy” to which he laughed.
After the call ended, the contestants and crew clapped and cheered, with one saying, “That’s crazy”.
“He’s a charmer, isn’t he?” Ms Markle asked.
The episode was filmed during the pair’s whirlwind four-day trip to Australia in April, when they visited Melbourne, Canberra, and Sydney.
During their trip, the Duke and Duchess visited mental health charities, Invictus veterans, and survivors and emergency service personnel from the Bondi Beach terror attack.
“We love Australia. We had the most sentimental, amazing time. We were here almost eight years ago,” she said of her visit.
“We announced we were pregnant with Archie at the time. It’s full circle.”
On Sunday night’s episode, when asked about cooking for her family, Ms Markle said she had “a lot of palates to appease” and that her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are “great eaters” who enjoy Brussels sprouts.
“The kids jump in a lot, especially with the garden,” she said, describing how the family often prepares food together.
“Family time, I think, is really key to connect through food, so as many meals as we can do together, we always do.”
She said her husband’s British upbringing meant he preferred “meat, potatoes and cream sauce” while the Californian-born duchess favoured grilled meats, fish and citrus.
On her Instagram story, Ms Markle shared a clip from MasterChef’s account, giving a look behind-the-scenes of the episode.
In it, she can be seen posing and hugging contestants, walking through the set, and speaking with the judges on camera.
It is understood Ms Markle was not paid for her appearance on the cooking show.
