Meghan Markle has opened up about her viral ‘Baby Momma’ dance video for the first time since posting it earlier this month, also revealing why she’s now more open to sharing more candid family moments.

Speaking with British business woman and Dragons’ Den star Emma Grede, in a snippet of her new Aspire Podcast released exclusively to People, the Duchess of Sussex talks about her life in the public eye, saying she now enjoys being able to share moments “on my own terms”.

In the clip, the 43-year-old talks about the wholesome video she shared to her Instagram account of herself twerking while in labour with her daughter, Princess Lilibet. Meghan posted the now viral clip of herself performing Starrkeisha’s ‘Baby Momma’ dance with her husband Prince Harry to mark Lilibet’s fourth birthday.

“Four years ago today, this also happened. Both of our children were a week past their due dates… so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn’t work — there was only one thing left to do!” she posted on June 5, alongside the video of her and Harry showing off their moves in the hospital suite.

In the preview of the podcast, being aired tonight, Meghan tells Grede that she’s excited to share more of her true self online.

“You have to be authentic,” she says, before asking, “Did you see my ‘Baby Momma’ dance?”

Grede — founding partner and chief product officer of SKIMS and CEO and co-founder of Good American — replies that she couldn’t stop watching it.

“We maybe watched it like 20 times yesterday, and I was like, is that, is that her? Is that Prince Harry there with the fingers…I was like, OK…good on Harry, let’s go. But that’s you, right?

“Like that’s you in a way that we kind of haven’t been able to see you before.”

“And I did like a little secret cheer, ‘cause I was like, well, that’s what I kind of want to see from you. Like I wanna see that happiness and that honesty and that ‘I don’t give a f...’ kind of thing.”

Meghan adds, “by the way, that wasn’t yesterday, that was four years ago, ” noting there was more to her life than people knew.

“It’s also a really great reminder that with all the noise or whatever people do, there’s still a whole life — a real, authentic, fun life — that’s happening behind the scenes,” she says.

“I’m just grateful that now, being back on social as well, I have a place where I can share it on my own terms.”

In a separate clip of the podcast, shared with Vanity Fair, Meghan also touches on her public image.

“I wanted to ask you a little bit about the public narrative, because when you sign up to be an actress, you know that people are going to start recognising you, they’re going to start speaking to you on the street, but that’s very different to what you have now,” Grede says.

“I wonder if you could rewrite your public narrative from scratch, is there anything that you would do differently?”

Meghan’s reply is simple.

“Yes, I would ask people to tell the truth,” she says.

Recently, Meghan also shared how the family celebrated Lilibet’s birthday with “days of pure joy” at Disney Land, as well as posted never-before-seen photos of Prince Harry and Lilibet on Instagram, describing their relationship as “the sweetest bond”.

On Father’s Day, Meghan revealed more videos of Prince Harry with their kids Prince Archie and Lilibet, saying “Happy Father’s Day to our favorite guy 💕.”
