Meghan Markle has shared a rare new photo of her daughter, Princess Lilibet, to mark International Women’s Day, giving a glimpse of the four-year-old in a touching family moment.

The Duchess of Sussex posted the image to Instagram, showing her cuddling Lilibet while sitting on a beach. The picture was taken by Prince Harry, who Meghan credited in the caption as “Papa Sussex”.

“For the woman she will one day be… Happy International Women’s Day,” she wrote.

The 44-year-old has made a tradition of marking the global day celebrating women’s achievements with personal tributes.

Last year, Meghan shared a previously unseen photo of Prince Harry, 41, with Lilibet as part of a series of images highlighting the women in her life and those who support them.

“Happy International Women’s Day!” she wrote in the post’s caption. “Celebrating the strong women around us & the girls with dreams who will become women with vision. Also thanking those who uplift us every day.”

Since stepping down as senior working royals, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have offered occasional glimpses into their life in Montecito, California, where they moved in 2020.

In February, Meghan shared a tender Instagram photo of Harry smiling as he held their daughter, Lilibet, who clutched several red balloons.

“These two + Archie = my forever Valentines,” Meghan wrote at the time.

Reflecting on how they found their home, Meghan told The Cut in 2022 that the couple had been “looking in this area” and “this house kept popping up online in searches”.

“We didn’t have jobs, so we just were not going to come and see this house. It wasn’t possible. It’s like when I was younger and you’re window shopping. It’s like, ‘I don’t want to go and look at all the things that I can’t afford. That doesn’t feel good,’” she explained.

The couple eventually toured the property and quickly fell in love with it.

“One of the first things my husband saw when we walked around the house was those two palm trees,” Meghan said. “They’re connected at the bottom. He goes, ‘My love, it’s us.’ And now every day when Archie goes by us, he says, ‘Hi, Momma. Hi, Papa.’”

“You walk in and go … joy. And exhale. And calm. It’s healing. You feel free,” Meghan added.
