Prince Andrew’s ex-girlfriend Lady Victoria Hervey has come under fire after making controversial comments in the wake of Virginia Giuffre’s suicide.

In an Instagram story, Hervey, 48, shared a screenshot of a news article about Virginia Giuffre’s death, writing: “When lies catch up with you there’s no way out”.

Social media users quickly lashed out, branding Hervey “sick” and saying she was “no lady”.

Amid the backlash, Hervey quickly posted another story two hours later, softening her stance: “I have taken the decision to pause my posts on the topic of Virginia Giuffre at the this time.

“Irrespective of circumstances, suicide in anyone at anytime is tragic and in a young mother who has children even more.”

Giuffre, 41, was found unresponsive in her home in Neergabby, Western Australia on Friday night, a death police said was not being treated as suspicious.

“It is with utterly broken hearts that we announce that Virginia passed away last night at her farm in Western Australia,” her family said in a statement.

“She lost her life to suicide, after being a lifelong victim of sexual abuse and sex trafficking.”

“Virginia was a fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse and sex trafficking. She was the light that lifted so many survivors,” the statement said.

“In the end, the toll of abuse is so heavy that it became unbearable for Virginia to handle its weight.”

Hervey, who briefly dated Prince Andrew in 1999, has defended him multiple times in recent years.

Prince Andrew has always strongly denied any wrongdoing or allegation involving Giuffre.

When Giuffre claimed she was left with kidney renal failure and had only days to live following a bus crash, Hervey reposted a picture of the bruised Giuffre with the caption, “What is Karma”.

Hervey also called Giuffre “the Queen of the fake photo”.

She has long claimed Giuffre, who worked at Mar-a-Lago when she was introduced to Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein, used an “Irish body double” to fake the famous photo with Prince Andrew at Maxwell’s London home.

Hervey also shared a post on Instagram promoting her podcast, in which she claims Prince Andrew is innocent and that she can prove it.

Giuffre, a mother-of-three, was one of the most vocal accusers of the wealthy and well-connected sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In 2019, she publicly alleged Epstein trafficked her and forced her to have sex with his friends, including Prince Andrew, when she was 17 years old.

She also claimed the prince was aware she was underage in the US at the time.

Andrew, who stepped back from his duties as an active royal as controversy related to Epstein swirled around him, agreed to settle the case for an undisclosed amount in 2022. He has always denied having sex with her and any improper conduct.

Epstein died by suicide in a New York jail in 2019 while he was awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges.

Maxwell, a former British socialite, was found guilty on five counts of sex trafficking in 2021 for her role in recruiting young girls to be abused by Epstein.

Giuffre’s brother, Danny Wilson, shared a final photo of the sex trafficking survivor after the tragic news broke, showing her sitting with her two brothers.

He had previously told NBC News she “pushed so hard to snuff the evil out” of the world.

“Her biggest push was, ‘If I don’t do this, nobody’s going to do it,’” he said, regarding her advocacy.

“She was in real physical pain — suffered from renal failure. But I think that the mental pain was worse.”
