Prince William blasted for ‘dangerous’ act riding e-scooter at Windsor Castle before Eugene Levy interview

As one of the UK’s most popular members of the royal family, it’s rare to see Prince William at the receiving end of public criticism.
But the future king has been blasted online for a “dangerous” move in a teaser for his appearance on actor Eugene Levy’s travel show.
In a light-hearted clip to promote the show, the Prince of Wales is seen zipping along the gravelled paths of Windsor Castle on an e-scooter before pulling up to greet Levy.

“It gets around quite nicely round here, it’s quite fun,” William replied.
While the sight of the next in line to the throne whizzing through the castle grounds drew praise from many, pleased to see the royal let his guard down, some pointed out a safety misstep.

Many pointed out he was not wearing a helmet with his navy blue suit, which some claimed was “dangerous” and set a bad example to his younger fans.
In the UK, it is not against the law to ride an e-scooter without a helmet, but the Metropolitan Police recommends using one.
“Wear a helmet so everyone learns safety first, especially when kids look up to you,” wrote one social media user.
“You fall off bang your head and good night Vienna,” wrote another.
“He needs to protect his Royal noggin,” another added.
While some pointed out the unlikelihood of the Prince being hit by traffic while riding on the sprawling castle grounds, others pointed out there were still risks.
“There is gravel always a problem for bikes…wear a helmet!” one fan pleaded.
“You can fall off without a car hitting you. It doesn’t take much to sustain a head injury. He is the future king; he needs his brain,” wrote another.
Kensington Palace has been contacted for a response.
The clip was to promote his appearance on Levy’s show The Reluctant Traveller, where William opened up on the effect of his wife Kate, Princess of Wales’ cancer diagnosis last year.

“I’d say 2024 was the hardest year I’ve ever had,” he said.
“Trying to sort of balance protecting the children, Catherine, my father needs a bit of protection, but he’s, you know, he’s old enough to do that himself as well.
“It’s important my family feel protected and has the space to process a lot of the stuff that’s gone on last year, and that was tricky trying to do that and keep doing the job.
“But you know, we all have challenges that come our way, and it’s important to keep going,” he said.
