A royal insider has shared a shocking account of the alleged moment Charles left Diana crying in a hospital bed after the Princess of Wales had just given birth.
Former royal-butler and close confidant to Princess Diana, Paul Burrell, has laid bare the incident, which he claims he has shared with Prince William and Prince Harry.
The former butler, who was once a “rock” to the princess, claimed that King Charles, then the Prince of Wales, looked at baby-Harry, before telling Diana he was returning to Camilla.

“Diana replied, ‘But, Charles, you know that’s the Spencer gene. We’ve all got red hair’.”
What happened next, Burrell claims was the “damning blow”.
“Well at least I’ve got my heir and spare now and …. I can return to Camilla,” Burrell claims Charles told Diana.

Charles married Camilla in 2005, seven years and Diana’s tragic death that shock the world.
The former confidant to Diana recalled the princess telling him about the alleged interaction, saying she was left in tears as he left.
He says that Diana told him she would cry herself to sleep “knowing my marriage was over”.

The excerpt, which was published by The Mirror, comes from the new book by Burrell titled The Royal Insider: My Life with the Queen, the King and Princess Diana.
In the book, Burrell claims Prince Harry was horrified when he shared the alleged comments during a secret meeting at Kensington Palace in 2017.
“Harry stared straight at me poker faced,” Burrell writes in his royal exposé.
“He couldn’t believe what I was telling him. I said to him ‘Harry it’s the truth. I wouldn’t tell you that unless it was exactly what your mother told me’.”
Burrell claims the secret meeting took place prior to Harry and Meghan Markle became engaged.
He claims that the conversation allowed Harry to begin his challenging with other royals, adding he thinks his comments are why the Duke of Sussex “called his book Spare”.

Charles and Diana were alone in the hospital room when the claimed interaction took place, other than baby Harry.
