He’s a childhood hero. A self-confessed scaredy-cat who has a knack of solving the most puzzling of crimes.

But it seems he’s turned bad, with American police putting out a wanted call for “Scooby-Doo”.

The Tuscaloosa Police Department are hunting an man clad in a Scooby-Doo costume who broke into a shop and stole cash ... but no snacks.

Officers responded when the shop’s alarm went off in the early hours of Sunday.

CCTV footage captured the man in the Scooby-Doo costume with a green mask covering his face.

He made his way around the store while carrying a black bag before making his getaway.

It is not known if he escaped in the Mystery Van.
