Onlookers gazed in horror as a woman jumped the dance and seemingly tried to pat a tiger at a New Jersey Zoo in the US.

Police are trying to locate the woman who jumped the fence to the tiger enclosure and was seen trying to touch the tiger before the animal became increasingly agitated.

Images supplied by the Bridgeton police department, show the woman inside the enclosure’s fence at the Cohanzick Zoo in Bridgeton.

“A female at the Cohanzick Zoo went over the wooden fence at the tiger enclosure and began enticing the tiger almost getting bit by putting her hand through the wire enclosure,” police said in a statement.

“We are asking if anyone recognizes the female in the video/photo.”

The woman moved away from the Bengal tiger when appeared to prepare an attack.

It was not clear when the incident took place, but police released the footage Tuesday.

At the end of the video, the woman is seen turning and hopping back over the wooden fence and walking away.
