A seven-year-old boy is fighting for life after a horror crash on a major highway which killed five people, including his mother, her partner and two children.
Arran Martin remains in a coma almost a week after the two-car collision on the M6 in Cumbria, in northwest England.
The fatal collision came after officers received reports of a Skoda car travelling the wrong way down the northbound motorway at about 4pm on Tuesday, October 15, local time.

Four people travelling in the Toyota — a 42-year-old man, a 33-year-old woman and two boys aged 15 and seven — were pronounced dead at the scene, Sky News reports.
Family and friends took to social media to pay tribute to the victims, identifying Arran’s mother Jade McEnroe, her partner Jaroslaw Rossa and his two sons, Filip and Dominic.
The Sun reports the family was travelling home to Glasgow from a Legoland getaway.
The Skoda driver, a 40-year-old man from Cambridgeshire, also died in the crash.
A third boy in the Toyota, Arran, was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.
After the crash, the Cumbria Constabulary spokesperson told Sky News the families of those involved in the crash “are being supported by specially trained officers”.
The police also thanked the witnesses who came forward to police to share statements or dashcam footage of the incident.
Days after the accident, family friend Keiran McGregor created a GoFundMe to support Arran’s recovery, describing the seven-year-old as a boy “who has always been full of life and a joy to everyone around him”.
“People that know Arran knows of his love for horror,” Mr McGregor wrote of the boy who “loves to scare people”.
“But at the same time he likes to bring along Woody and Buzz (toys) to his cold water dips just in case any of the adults get into some trouble in the water and he can help save the day with them.”
Mr McGregor said it was a “miracle” Arran survived the crash.
“As of today, Arran remains in a coma although he is doing better,” he added.
“It is early days but we know that this accident will be life-changing for him and (his dad) Andy and every penny raised along with your thoughts and prayers are met with gratitude.”
He said the campaign would and the campaign would help the boy’s father during this “unimaginably difficult time”, funding transport to and from the hospital.
“As Arran bravely fights through his recovery, we want to ensure his dad can remain by his side every day without the added worry of financial pressures,” Mr McGregor wrote.
He said funds will also be used to fund household renovations to “create a comfortable, healing space for Arran... to ensure his comfort and wellbeing when he returns home”.
The campaign has almost hit its £5,000 (about $9700) target.
While authorities have not identified the victims in the crash, tributes have poured in for Jade McEnroe and her partner Jaroslaw Rossa, who also died in the incident.
Ms McEnroe’s colleagues at The Gin Spa, a beauty spa in Glasgow, remembered her as a “devoted mother” and “much-loved therapist”
“We will all miss her dearly as she was not only our co-worker but our friend who brightened every day with the warmest smile,” the page wrote on social media.
“She was the kindest soul and a devoted mother, and her devastating loss will undoubtedly be felt by many people. Our thoughts are with Jade’s family.”
Mr Rossa worked as a chef at Wagamama and his employer said the 42-year-old made a “huge impression” while working at the restaurant for the last eight years.
“His warmth, dedication and kindness are the characteristics of Jaroslaw that will stay with the team long after his passing,” Wagamama CEO Thomas Heier said in a statement to reporters.
“We send our most sincere and heartfelt condolences to his family, for which we know he was deeply devoted to. Jaroslaw, you will live in our hearts and minds forever.”
A separate GoFundMe specifically for Ms McEnroe and Mr Rossa’s families has raised £20,440 ($39,775).
