The real-life ‘stalker’ in the hit Netflix show Baby Reindeer last night vowed legal action against ‘all those who have lied about me’ to make ‘millions of pounds’.

Fiona Harvey claimed the streaming giant and writer Richard Gadd had made up the shocking story, causing ‘untold damage’ to her health and reputation.

“I have never been charged with any crime and, of course, I have never been to prison,” she said.

“[They] have made millions of pounds from this programme by making so many claims that it is a true story.”

She added: “I am putting together a legal team to take forward action against all of those who have lied about me.”

Netflix, Gadd and production studio Clerkenwell Films were approached for comment.

Baby Reindeer has taken the TV world by storm, watched by 65 million people since it was released last month.

It is based on comedian Mr Gadd’s experience of being stalked for four years by an older woman – who in the show is called Martha Scott and is jailed after sending him 41,071 emails, 744 tweets, 106 pages of letters and 350 hours of voicemail messages.

The mini-series, in which Mr Gadd, 34, also plays the main character, is billed by Netflix as a ‘true story’.

Despite Mr Gadd and Netflix’s insistence that the storyline does not reveal the stalker’s identity, Ms Harvey, 58, from London, was quickly named by internet sleuths.

She said last night: “My rapid identification as the “real Martha” has caused untold damage to my health, my reputation and my job prospects.

“The problem for Richard Gadd and Netflix is that Baby Reindeer is not a true story. I am not a ‘convicted stalker’.”
