The father of a girl found beaten to death threatened to kill a woman and attacked a one-month-old baby before allegedly murdering his daughter, a court heard yesterday.

Urfan Sharif, 42, once held a woman at knifepoint and also tried to choke another victim with a belt, it was claimed.

The Old Bailey heard the taxi driver had a history of abuse, targeting three women and burning and hitting two children before the death of his ten-year-old daughter, Sara, on August 8 last year in Woking, Surrey.

Sharif was accused of being a “lying and manipulative man” who preyed on vulnerable women, controlling their finances and trying to orchestrate a “sham marriage” to stay in the UK.

Jurors were told the defendant had been arrested multiple times for alleged abuse of women and children, including assaulting a one-month-old baby.

And two children allegedly suffered bruises, slaps, bites and burns to their legs and face.

It was also claimed one of the youngsters was punched all over their body.

Sharif was never prosecuted after he insisted his accusers were liars.

He has denied biting and burning children, saying: “I’m not cruel, I’m not an animal.”

Social services and police were alerted to allegations of violence more than a decade before Sharif allegedly killed his daughter with the help of his wife Beinash Batool, 30, the jury heard.

Both deny murder. Sara suffered at least 71 external injuries from being bitten, burned with an iron and battered with a cricket bat, belt and a pole.

Sharif, who came to the UK from Pakistan on a student visa in 2003, is said to have told an 18-year-old woman “shut your f****** mouth or I will kill you” while on the hunt for an EU passport through marriage.

She claimed he held her at knifepoint and threatened to kill her before she escaped.

Sharif and Batool fled to Pakistan the day after Sara died, where her father said on a 999 call: “I killed my daughter.”

The trial continues.
