Alexis Von Yates: Florida nurse sentenced after sexually abusing 15-year-old stepson

A US nurse has been sentenced to two years in prison after her husband walked in and caught her sexually abusing his 15-year-old son on their living room couch.

According to court documents, Alexis Von Yates, 34, abused the boy while he was visiting his father’s home in Florida in July 2024.

During the sentencing hearing, the boy’s biological mother delivered a powerful victim impact statement, saying Von Yates’ actions make her “physically ill”.

She described the nurse as a “coward” and an “incestuous pedophile,” revealing that her son is now undergoing therapy as a result of the abuse.

She also claimed the boy’s father had only spoken to his son once in the past year.

“I will be by his side to support him, just as I always have. But it is not fair that I am the only one left to pick up the pieces of the mess Alexis created,” she said.

“I am angry, I am hurt, at times it makes me physically ill. But I, like (my son), will rise above.

“Despite all of the trauma inflicted upon him, he still has a beautiful life to look forward to. A life full of love, hope and endless possibilities.

“As for you Alexis, you have shown absolutely no remorse or accountability for your despicable actions.”

She continued: “But there is something you will never escape, the deep well emptiness inside of you. The lack of compassion, or love, or care. You systemically manipulated, groomed, and sexually abused a child. Through your actions, and through your conduct since you have proven to be a coward.

“There is nowhere you can go to escape the truth. For the rest of your life the world will see you for exactly what you are. An incestuous paedophile who will forever only be remembered for what she took from a child.”

Authorities launched an investigation in July 2024 after receiving an anonymous tip just days after the abuse occurred. The tip included details suggesting the child’s father had witnessed the incident firsthand.

According to court records, obtained by the Daily Mail, Von Yates put her two children to bed before spending time alone with her stepson in the living room.

The documents state the two smoked a THC vape and played video games before watching a movie.

Around 1am, Von Yates reportedly put on a movie, then seduced the boy by revealing she was “horny” because “she had not had sex in two weeks and she was on her period.”

The documents also reveal that the boy’s father drove his son to his grandparents’ house after discovering him naked, telling the boy he “ruined his life”.

Von Yates had her nursing licence suspended in November and on Tuesday (local time) was sentenced to two years in prison, followed by two years of community control and 10 years of sex offender probation.

It comes after she accepted a plea deal after initially being charged sexual battery on a person between 12 and 18 years old.

She is also required to complete 200 hours of community service, pay fines, and cover court costs.
