Ghislaine Maxwell is allegedly receiving special treatment in prison while she serves a 20-year sentence over sex-trafficking crimes tied to Jeffrey Epstein.

Prison staff are reportedly waiting on her “hand and foot”, according to a claim made by Democrats serving on the House Judiciary Committee.

In a press release, the committee laid out a list of “privileges” they allege Maxwell is receiving since she was transferred to the Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas, by the Trump administration in August.

The move was already controversial because sex offenders are explicitly banned from FPC, which is a minimum security facility.

The committee received a whistleblower disclosure that Warden Tanisha Hall has been “heaping favourable treatment” on Maxwell since she arrived at the Texas prison.

They allege Maxwell has been receiving “customised” meals which are personally delivered by prison staff to her cell.

Further, they allege Dr Hall has been arranging private meetings between Maxwell and visitors, including members of her family, providing a “special cordoned off area” for them to arrive, and an array of snacks and refreshments for them to partake in.

According to the committee, Maxwell’s visitors were allowed to bring computers to the prison, which is typically banned to prevent prisoners from communicating with the outside world without being monitored. There has been no suggestion that Maxwell used one of these computers.

The group said Maxwell had been allowed to play with a puppy, contrary to regular rules.

“An inmate who trains puppies to become service dogs was instructed to provide one to Maxwell for a time so she could play with the puppy, even though neither inmates nor staff are ordinarily allowed to pet the service dogs in training,” the committee said in a press release.

They also alleged Warden Hall acted as Maxwell’s “personal secretary and administrative assistant” by speeding up the review and editing process of her written messages to outside correspondents.

“Maxwell’s correspondents would email documents directly to the Warden, who would provide them to Maxwell, who would then review and edit them and provide them back to the Warden to scan and provide to the original sender,” the committee said.

“For other inmates, simple mail can take weeks to arrive and is frequently lost.”

Finally, they allege Maxwell was allowed to use the staff-only area for her recreation time and was also personally escorted to the prison exercise area when she wanted to work out so she could do so alone.
