Powerball winner asked ChatGPT to pick lucky numbers, wins $153,000 in Virginia

A woman who pleaded with ChatGPT to pick her some lucky numbers in Powerball has been left shocked after scooping a major jackpot.
Tammy Carvey, 45, of Wyandotte, Michigan, bought a the ticket online at MichiganLottery.com for the September 6 draw in the United States after speaking to the AI chatbot.
“I only play Powerball when the jackpot gets up there, and the jackpot was over $1 billion, so I bought a ticket,” Ms Carvey told lottery officials when claiming her prize.

Ms Carvey recalled the ChatGPT conversation and said “I’m like, ‘ChatGPT, talk to me. Do you have numbers for me?’”
“When I checked the winning numbers, I saw I matched four white balls and the Powerball and knew I had to have won something,” she recalled.
But another stroke of luck kicked in after she realised she has ticked an option on her entry to include the “Power Play”, which doubled her money according to People.
“Google told me it was a $US50,000 prize, so that’s what I thought I’d won. It wasn’t until I logged into my Michigan Lottery account that I realised I added the Power Play to my ticket and actually won $US100,000!”
“My husband and I were in total disbelief,” she added.
This isn’t the first time a lotto winner has used AI to select winning numbers. Virginia woman Carrie Edwards used ChatGPT to select Powerball numbers for the September 8 Virginia Lotto drawing to score a $US150,000, all of which she donated to charity.
