Vietnam cafe rampage: Aussie tourist allegedly smashes up Ge Cafe in Da Nang in violent 30-minute frenzy
An Australian tourist has allegedly caused tens of thousands of dollars worth of damage to cafe in Vietnam after going on a violent rampage through the establishment.

A man has allegedly caused tens of thousands of dollars worth of damage to a cafe in Vietnam after going on a violent rampage through the establishment.
The 30-minute frenzy unravelled at Ge Cafe in the coastal city of Da Nang, where security cameras captured the man, who is understood to be Australian, causing extensive damage to the premises on May 29, local media outlet VN Express reports.
In a video shared to the business’s Facebook page, the shirtless tourist can be seen wielding a wooden chair and using it to shove cafe equipment off a counter onto the floor as a panicked woman scrambles out of frame and away from the perpetrator.

Seconds later he grabs a laptop from a nearby table before striking it against his knee and ripping the screen away from the keyboard and throwing the dismantled pieces out the broken window.
Matters escalated when the man allegedly began fighting customers in an outside area of the eatery, appearing to place one person in a headlock and raising a chair over his head toward another as third tried to deescalate the situation.
In a caption accompanying the three shocking videos, Ge Cafe management detailed the series of “serious” events that followed after the man arrived just before midnight.
According to the post, the man sat down at a table before cafe staff approached him to let him know orders had to be placed at the counter.
The cafe said another customer then tried to assist the tourist by offering him their mobile phone to help translate the conversation.
However, management claim the tourist refused to hand the device back to the owner and instead “laughed and continued scrolling.”
“The staff called security for assistance due to unusual behaviour,” cafe staff wrote.
“However, before the staff could reach the security guard, the man stood up, began taking off his shirt, smashing a customer’s phone, and telling everyone they had 10 seconds to leave the store.
“He then proceeded to vandalise the place, destroying much of the bar equipment, decor, tempered glass doors, and many customer belongings inside at the time, such as laptops and phones.
“Many customers on the second and third floors were trapped. About 5 minutes after the incident, the police arrived in front of the store.
“At this point, the suspect tried to escape and ran to the second floor, where he got into a scuffle with several customers and grabbed one male customer by the neck.
The man was later arrested by local police, The Sun reports.
“The suspect was uncooperative, shouting and resisting arrest,” the cafe’s post continued.
“After about 2-3 minutes, the suspect was surrounded by police and taken to the police station at approximately 00:30 on May 30, 2026.”

Photos shared in a separate post show the extensive trail of destruction left behind with multiple windows shatters, equipment smashed on the floor and glass covering the ground.
Authorities believe the wild frenzy caused about 500 million Vietnamese dong ($AUD $26,454) worth of damage to the establishment.
According to the The Sun, the suspect remains in custody as police investigate the incident.
