Woman dies when bomb she's carrying explodes in Greece

A woman is dead in Greece after apparently going to plant a bomb only for it to explode in her hands.

A woman has been killed in northern Greece when a bomb she was carrying exploded in her hands.

The 38-year-old woman was apparently carrying the bomb to place it outside a nearby bank early on Saturday in the city of Thessaoloniki, police said.

Several storefronts and vehicles were damaged by the explosion.

The woman was known to authorities after taking part in several past robberies, according to police, who said they are investigating her possible ties to extreme leftist groups.
