Construction engineer Mark Selvey, 63, from Birmingham in England, said he had a terrifying encounter with the attacker.

“I had come out of shaver shop and there were people running past,” he said.

“I looked around and there was a guy in front of me. He had a foot long knife down by his side with a brown handle.

“It looked rusty, it could have been red. He looked me in the eye.

“He looked in his 20s with brown curly hair. He didn’t say anything.

“I don’t know how I felt. I just turned and ran.

“I saw a police woman chasing and within a minute there were two shots.”
