Accused High Country killer Greg Lynn launched bid for bail in Victoria’s Supreme Court
Former Jetstar pilot Greg Lynn has launched a new court bid after his murder conviction was overturned due to ‘fundamental unfairness’.

Accused High Country killer Greg Lynn will seek to be released on bail next week after his murder conviction was overturned on appeal.
The 59-year-old former Jetstar pilot was jailed for 32 years in November 2024 after a jury found him guilty of murdering Carol Clay, 73, in Victoria’s remote Wonnangatta Valley almost six years ago.
But following an appeal in Victoria’s Court of Appeal late last year, a panel of three judges set aside his conviction and sentence and ordered a fresh trial be held on the charge.

On Friday, Mr Lynn’s solicitors at Chris McLennan & Co revealed an application for bail had been lodged with the Victorian Supreme Court.
This has since been confirmed to have been listed for 9.30am on Thursday, February 26.
Following Mr Lynn’s appeal, the three judges found a substantial miscarriage of justice had occurred in his case when the trial prosecutor breached rules that govern fair trials.
“There is no reason to think that the fundamental unfairness which permeated the first trial will carry over to the new trial,” they wrote, ordering a new trial on the charge.

Ms Clay and her partner Russell Hill, 74, vanished while camping at Bucks Camp in Victoria’s High Country in March 2020.
Mr Lynn was accused of murdering the pair; however. the jury in his first trial found him not guilty of criminal responsibility over Mr Hill’s death.
At trial, Mr Lynn put forward an account of two tragic accidental deaths and a panicked effort to avoid being wrongly blamed.
