Alan Jones trial: Peter FitzSimons takes stand as star witness in blockbuster court case

Peter FitzSimons has taken the stand as a star witness for the prosecution in Alan Jones’ indecent assault and sexual touching trial.

Mr FitzSimons is giving evidence about his interactions with a man, who can only be known as Complainant C, who has alleged Mr Jones kissed him without his consent and touched him on the penis on the outside of his clothing.

Mr Jones, 85, has pleaded not guilty to 20 counts of indecent assault and two counts of sexual touching and has continuously denied the allegations made by six male complainants.

C previously told the court that he first disclosed his allegations to Mr Jones’ then-2GB stablemate Ray Hadley and Mr FitzSimons, a columnist and former rugby union player, in October 2019.

The court was previously told that at the time Mr FitzSimons was researching a story about Mr Jones.

C told the court that he confided the allegations to Mr Hadley and soon after had a phone conversation with Mr FitzSimons, in which he repeated his claims.

During his conversation with Mr FitzSimons, C said he declined to give his name or tell his story publicly.

“I told (Mr FitzSimons) how Alan used to kiss me, how he used to touch me on the penis, how it happened when I was driving him,” C told the court during his evidence last month.

“Peter asked me if I wanted to tell that story publicly and I immediately declined.

“At no point did I tell him who I was, at no point did I identify myself.”

C ultimately aired his story publicly when he spoke to journalist Kate McClymont in late 2023.
