Andrew Truman identified as man who died following serious assault outside Melbourne McDonald’s on Elizabeth St
The Melbourne man who died after being struck in the head outside a CBD McDonald’s restaurant last week has been remembered as a passionate Western Bulldogs fan and an important member of his local footy community.
Andrew Truman, 44, died in hospital from significant head injuries he sustained during an altercation last Wednesday.

He was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition but on Saturday police confirmed he had died.
Truman has been remembered fondly by multiple local football clubs in Melbourne’s west involved in the FIDA league, an association for players with intellectual disabilities.
He was a life member of the Wyndham All Abilities Football and Cricket Club where he played multiple premierships.
“It is with a heavy heart that I must tell you of the sudden passing of Andrew ‘Chewie’ Truman,” club president Paul Barrett said.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Truman family at this time. A deeply sad day for all that knew Chewie.”
The Williamstown Seagulls FIDA football club said Truman’s enthusiasm for the sport, as well as the Western Bulldogs AFL team, was “infectious”.
“He was always ready for a friendly chat,” the club said.
Police are still on the hunt for Truman’s alleged killer, who has now been identified as Todd Menegaldo.
Detectives have conducted a significant search for Menegaldo over the past few days however have been unable to find him.
Menegaldo, who also goes by the nickname “Rooster”, is described as being approximately 180 to 185cm tall with a thin build.
Police said he has a black and white crossbreed Staffordshire terrier and is known to frequent the Melbourne CBD, in particular the areas around Elizabeth St and Flinders Street Station, as well as the Mildura and Bendigo areas.
Menegaldo was last seen wearing a zip-up purple jumper, dark jeans and a yellow beanie.
Police have released images and CCTV of him in the hope someone can provide information regarding his current whereabouts.
Anyone who sees Menegaldo is urged not to approach him and to contact triple-0 immediately.
