After a couple of days of thunderstorm warnings across the east coast, much of the country can look ahead to a more pleasant stretch of weather over the coming days.

Wet conditions are expected to settle across large parts of Australia, with more pleasant days on the way.

But there are still some weather hazards to watch out for, with a flood warning and thunderstorm alert in place for Victoria and Western Australia.

Here’s the breakdown of what weather to expect in your State:

NEW SOUTH WALES

Sydneysiders are set to be treated to a clear run of sunny skies with no sign of rain over the week ahead.

Seven days of sunshine and tops of between 19C and 25C are set to be a welcome change after New South Wales was put on severe thunderstorm watch on Tuesday.

Outside of the city, days of heavy rain has caused areas of flooding along the Bell River in Wellington.

“Rainfall observed across the Molong Creek and Bell River catchments since Tuesday morning resulted in river level rises and areas of minor flooding,” the bureau wrote in a statement on Thursday.

“Minor flooding was observed along the Bell River at Wellington during Wednesday late afternoon and evening. Minor flooding has now eased along the Bell River and no further flooding is expected.”

VICTORIA

In typical Melbourne fashion, the eastern State city looks set for a range of weather conditions over the coming days.

The sun will continue to make an intermittent appearance on Thursday as a wet Friday is expected to bring about 1mm of rain.

The weekend and Monday are forecast to remain dry with a top of 15C and 17C respectively. Showers will return on Tuesday and persist into Wednesday.

“A high pressure centre will persist across the State today. The high will weaken slightly on Friday as the tail end of a cold front clips southern parts of the State before a new ridge builds eastwards across the State from Saturday and into Sunday,” the Bureau of Meteorology said on Thursday.

North-east of Melbourne, a flood warning is in place for residents in Appin South on Thursday evening.

“The main flood peak along the Loddon River is now approaching Appin South where the river level is likely to peak near the moderate flood level late Thursday,” BoM said in an alert.

“Further upstream, a second but lower flood peak has passed Laanecoorie Reservoir, where the river levels peaked at the moderate flood level Wednesday afternoon.”

People in the flood zone are urged to stay away from flooded drains, river and waterways. Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and obey any road closure signs.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

Adelaide is tipped to enjoy a few pleasant days of mild temperatures and mostly sunny skies, but it won’t stick around for too long.

From Thursday, there is no rain in sight until the skies are forecast to open up on Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing an expected drenching of up to 4mm.

The dry conditions are a change from the wet weather over recent days when a flood alert was announced earlier this week to warn of rains that could lead to rising water levels in the Onkaparinga River.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA

Meanwhile in WA, residents in the State’s Central Wheatbelt are set to be pummelled by a bout of heavy rainfall.

The Bureau said in an alert on Thursday wet conditions could lead to flash flooding in the South East Coastal district throughout the afternoon.

“A low pressure system developing about the Central Wheat Belt is producing a rainband with isolated embedded heavy showers and thunderstorms over parts of the South East Coastal,” BoM said.

City slickers won’t dodge the miserable weather entirely, with up to 6mm of rain expected in Perth on Thursday.

Rain is expected to clear for a few days starting on Friday, with the mercury set to reach 25C on Sunday. Showers will return on Monday and clear by Tuesday.

TASMANIA

Tassie’s capital of Hobart is looking at a mixed bag of rain and shine, starting off with a wet Thursday.

The sun will stay hidden on Friday, but is expected to make a return in time for the weekend and into Monday. Tuesday is forecast to bring up to 7mm of rain to the capital, with a shower or two expected on Tuesday.

Strong winds are set to batter the South East Coast, South West Coast and Central West Coast on Thursday and East of Flinders Island, Lower East Coast, South East Coast and South West Coast on Friday.
