Australian couple and influencer arrested during Bali anti-prostitution raids

An Australian couple and a social media influencer have been arrested in Bali when two massage parlours were raided over prostitution claims.

Michael Jerome Le Grand,50, and Lynley Le Grand’s, 44, were paraded by police along with eight others during a press conference about the raids on Friday, according to media reports.

The Victorian couple are long-term residents of Bali and own other popular businesses its been reported.

Police alleged the couple’s spa, Pink Palace, in the Kuta district offered sex services illegal in Indonesia.

The business’s website and social media pages have since been shutdown.

Lingerie, condoms and massage oil were allegedly seized during the raid.

It’s been alleged one staff member of the Pink Palace spa was 17-years-old.

Police are seeking to prosecute the couple under the country’s anti-pornography law, and are investigating whether charges should be pressed under Indonesia’s child protection laws.

If found guilty, they face up to 12 years behind bars.

General crime director of Bali police, Ketut Suarnaya alleged Pink Palace spa made between $94,500-$286,000 per month.

“Bali police have followed up on information from the community that there was prostitution being disguised as spa therapy in two separate places,” he told the media.

A social media influencer was arrested in September during a raid of Flame Spa.

Two receptionists, a manager and the spa’s director were also arrested.

There is no wrongdoing suggested by the influencer.

Senior commissioner of police Jansen Avitus Panjaitan said investigations into Flame Spa were ongoing.

The business said it “offers sensational body on body massage in our unique UV-lit private rooms, that relaxes the mind and captures sensual energy”.

“Our service is more than just a sensual massage, it is an erotic experience,” the website says.
