Bali style, Bulli location: Ultimate beach home comes with glass-floor lookout
The owner of an eye-catching, recently listed Bulli property said the home’s distinctive style often captures the attention of visitors.
“A lot of people who have come through have said it feels like Port Douglas or (other parts of) Queensland, and that’s the Balinese-y, tropical look we were wanting to go for,” she said.
“And that’s what caught our eye when we first came into the house. Although obviously, we’ve done a lot of renovations and landscaping to make it look even more like that now.”

Records show the home last sold in July 2018 for $1,862,500.
The current owner said the home also initially appealed to them due to its layout; it was suitable for her family, which at the time included teenage boys.
“There was a separation between where we could have time away, and they could have their own set-up downstairs,” she said.
The proximity of the bike path was also a drawcard for the current owners, as were schools, surfing and a dog beach being located nearby.
The lower level of the four-bedroom home features polished concrete floors with underfloor heating.
Other features include a glass mezzanine, clerestory windows and bi-fold doors; and an upper level with timber floors and a large covered deck.
The owner said they had undertaken plenty of other work on the property.
This included all the concrete floors and timber floors being re-polished, new blinds, as well as a near-new total backyard renovation with an eight-metre pool and extensive landscaping.
The seller said her favourite features of the home were the backyard, the entertaining areas downstairs and upstairs, and the proximity to the beach and bike path.
“We didn’t want to be right on the beachfront, due to erosion and the like,” she said. “To just be around the corner from it was fantastic.
“When we moved in we thought it was a little piece of paradise.
“It has great entertaining areas upstairs, off the top verandah, and also downstairs.
“There’s the glass loft up the very top, which has ocean glimpses, and there are also escarpment views from the front verandah.”
The home has been listed for sale as the owners look to downsize.
Selling agent, Troy McNeice from Molenaar x McNeice said the home has a price guide in the low $3 million range.
He said interested buyers were predominantly Sydney-based, including groups from the Sutherland Shire and Inner West.
“It’s really centred around entertaining,” he said. “The house has a great floorplan for entertaining.
“And the lifestyle of the property is excellent, with McCauley’s Beach around the corner for surfing, a bike track.
“It just offers a great lifestyle for a family wanting to be near the beach, and have a beautiful, modern home.”
