Bindi Irwin has shared an emotional health update after undergoing multiple emergency surgeries earlier this year.

The wildlife conservationist was rushed to Lennox Hill Hospital in May with a ruptured appendix, a potentially life-threatening condition that required urgent treatment.

While in hospital, doctors discovered 14 endometriosis lesions, which were subsequently removed. Surgeons also repaired a hernia she had developed during the birth of her daughter, Grace, four years ago.

This wasn’t Bindi’s first battle with endometriosis.

Two years earlier, she underwent surgery to remove 37 lesions and a cyst as part of her ongoing fight against the chronic condition.

Bindi, who first revealed she had been diagnosed with endometriosis in 2023, took to social media on Thursday to share with her followers that she is “finally” on the path to recovery.

“13 years of fighting for answers. 51 endometriosis lesions, a chocolate cyst, and my appendix were all removed across two surgeries with @seckinmd,” she wrote.

“My hernia from giving birth that was unzipping - was taken care of.”

“I can FINALLY say that I’m feeling better. Genuinely healing. I can function in everyday life without wanting to throw up or pass out from the pain. Slowly, slowly gaining my strength back.”

Bindi went on to say that she is beginning to “recognise” herself again.

“I felt utterly ashamed as a teenager and young adult behind told that my pain was just part of being a woman. I felt lesser. I felt hurt. I felt weak. That is not ok.”

“Young girls and women shouldn’t feel along with pain in the driver’s seat of their lives. We need to take away the stigma of talking about women’s health.

“It’s time to have open discussions and make change on a global scale.”

Followers have flooded the 27-year-old’s social media with messages of love and support.

“I could not think of a better ambassador and role model for women going through this disease than you. So proud of you and excited for your new beginning. You have bloomed,” one wrote.

“Thank you for sharing your story. We need to keep advocating for every single person out there struggling & being dismissed,” wrote another.

Bindi was diagnosed with endometriosis in March 2023 and shortly after spoke publicly about having the condition that she’d been suffering from for a decade.

The television personality was forced to miss the annual Steve Irwin Gala earlier this year after she was rushed to hospital, leaving brother Robert to reveal the worrying development to explain her absence.

Robert showed his support for his sister, writing on his Instagram: “Happy to see you on the up and up, Bindi. You face every hurdle head on, take it in your stride and inspire us.”
