A large crime scene was established, with officers and emergency crews combing through the area where investigators said a lot of personal items were left behind, including a backpack, a pair of sandals and clothing.

A black car parked on the grass was also investigated.

During a patrol at Coolaroo railway station on Wednesday afternoon, protective services officers from the transit safety division arrested a 26-year-old Roxburgh Park man.

Police say he was wanted in relation to the shooting.

He is being interviewed in relation to the incident. No charges have been laid.

“Investigators believe that no other alleged offenders remain outstanding and would like to thank witnesses who came forward,’ a police statement read.

Police had previously arrested and charged a 31-year-old Glenroy man with recklessly cause injury, reckless conduct endangering life, and prohibited person possess firearm, but those charges have since been dropped.

He was also charged with drug offences and breach of bail, which police say will not be withdrawn.

Police allege the 31-year-old’s vehicle was involved in the Broadmeadows shooting.

“The man remains a person of interest in the broader investigation, and detectives continue to appeal to anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and speak to police,” police said.

On Monday, police indicated the shooting was “targeted” and the “parties involved were known to each other”.
