A car has flipped on its side in a four-vehicle crash at Waterfall, in Sydney’s south.

The smash occurred on the Princes Hwy at Bundarra St about 12.30pm, causing heavy traffic.

Emergency services are at the scene, where northbound lanes and one of two southbound lanes on the Princes Hwy have closed.

“A driver and a passenger were trapped for some time before being released by Fire and Rescue NSW crews,” NSW Police said.

“Five people were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St George Hospital with minor injuries.”

Motorists are warned to “exercise caution, expect delays and use diversions,” Live Traffic NSW said.

Northbound traffic is being diverted via Bundarra St, Warabin St, and Yanagang St.

“This diversion is suitable for light vehicles only. Heavy vehicles are being parked,” Live Traffic NSW said.

Investigations are ongoing.
