CFMEU Brisbane headquarters raided by QLD, VIC police in Olympic contracts corruption investigation
A police raid on a CFMEU headquarters has thrust the union into an expanding corruption probe tied to Olympic and Paralympic Games contracts.
Queensland and Victorian police raided the CFMEU’s Brisbane headquarters as part of a widening investigation into alleged corruption linked to Olympic and Paralympic Games contracts.
Detectives executed a warrant at the union’s Bowen Hills office about 7.30am on Wednesday as part of an interstate probe examining claims that corrupt enterprise bargaining agreements were used to distort bids for Olympic construction work.
It is understood the Queensland CFMEU Commission of Inquiry is assisting both Queensland Police and Victoria Police in the investigation.

A CFMEU spokesman told The Courier Mail the union was assisting investigators.
“The CFMEU has been made aware of a police investigation this morning and will co-operate fully,” he told the publication.
A Victoria Police spokesperson confirmed its officers were also carrying out warrants south of the border as part of the same investigation.
“Detectives from Taskforce Hawk have executed a number of warrants in Victoria today as part of an investigation into information received about alleged corrupting benefits offences,” the spokesperson said.
“Warrants have also been executed in Queensland by Queensland Police Service detectives from the Commission of Inquiry into the CFMEU and Misconduct in the Construction Industry as part of this investigation.”
