Christmas trading hours 2025: Woolworths, Coles, Aldi, Bunnings, Kmart, Big W, Westfield and Dan Murphy’s

The festive season has arrived, and with Christmas fast approaching, shopping centres and major retailers have confirmed their holiday trading hours.

Here’s when you can get in some last-minute shopping, and and when you’ll need to take a break before Boxing Day sales and New Year’s Eve.

Coles

QUEENSLAND, NSW, VICTORIA, ACT, TASMANIA, WA AND NT

• Up until and including Christmas Eve, December 24 — all stores open
• Christmas Day, December 25 — all stores closed
• Boxing Day, December 26 — all stores open
• New Year’s Eve, December 31 — all stores open
• New Year’s Day, January 1 — all stores open

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

• Up until and including Christmas Eve, December 24 — all stores open
• Christmas Day, December 25 — all stores closed
• Boxing Day, December 26 — all metropolitan stores closed; regional stores open 8am–8pm
• New Year’s Eve, December 31 — all stores open
• New Year’s Day, January 1 — metropolitan stores closed (except Adelaide’s Rundle Place, open 11am–5pm); regional stores open 8am–8pm including Berri, Mount Barker, Mount Gambier, Murray Bridge Green, Port Augusta, Port Lincoln, Port Pirie, Victor Harbor and Whyalla.

Coles shoppers can expect regular hours through most of the festive season but it’s best to double-check the Coles Store Locator for local details.

Woolworths

Woolworths will maintain extended trading hours in the lead‑up to Christmas, with slight differences across the states. Customers can confirm their local times via the Store Locator.

Westfield

Westfield shopping centres nationwide will close on Christmas Day.

• Christmas Eve, December 24 —Most centres open until 5pm or 6pm.
• Christmas Day, December 25 — All centres closed.
• Boxing Day, December 26 — Most stores reopen, some trading until 9pm.
• New Year’s Eve, December 31 —Hours vary — check the Westfield website.
• New Year’s Day, January 1 — All NSW centres closed except Warringah Mall in Sydney. Centres in the ACT and South Australia also closed; other states open with reduced hours.

Kmart

All Kmart stores will close on Christmas Day. Trading hours for other days vary.

Bunnings will adjust hours around the country.

Dan Murphy’s and BWS

• Christmas Eve — Open as usual.
• Christmas Day — Almost all stores closed, except select venues in Victoria and Tasmania.
• Boxing Day — All stores reopen.
• New Year’s Eve — Dan Murphy’s open until 9pm nationwide; BWS trading as normal.
• New Year’s Day — All stores open on reduced hours.
