Eighteen-year-old man suffers life-threatening injuries from crashing motorbike into fence on Gold Coast

An 18-year-old man was critically injured when he crashed his motorbike into a fence at Pacific Pines.

An 18-year-old man has died and been brought back to life when he crashed a motorbike into the fence of a Gold Coast property.

The young man was riding the Yamaha on Pacific Bines Blvd about 3.30pm on Sunday when he veered off the road and crashed into the timber fence.

“Witnesses have seen him overtaking other vehicles at significant speed ... just prior to the actual accident,” Acting Superintendent Scott Knowles said.

“As a result, he has lost control of that motorcycle (and) crashed into a wooden fence.”

He was treated by paramedics at the scene for serious back, pelvis and limb injuries.

He was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital where he immediately went into surgery.

“He did actually pass away at the hospital. He had to be revived,” Knowles said.

“He’s critical. He’s still unconscious.

“He apparently lost significant amount of blood. Apparently the paramedics pumped five or six bags of blood into him just in the ambulance alone, to get him to the hospital

“So his injuries were significant.”

Investigations continue.
